Would love to know the story about how Jasmin Sparrow came to be?

It came about very organically. Having finished my jewellery training, I dedicated a lot of time to the jewellery bench: developing my technical skills, making bespoke pieces for friends and taking on commissions. Jasmin Sparrow grew slowly. And, in time, I chose to outsource production so I could dedicate myself more fully to the design process and growing the brand itself.

I believe jewellery is unique in its sentimentality; it's a privilege to create pieces that symbolise precious moments and acknowledge devotion. While my process is intuitive, this vision of jewellery - as a marker of tender and significant moments - has grounded the Jasmin Sparrow aesthetic and brand philosophy as we have evolved.

From the very beginning, I have looked to the natural world for inspiration - whilst being conscious not to exploit its resources - working only with recycled and responsibly sourced materials. Part of this ethos is ensuring that Jasmin Sparrow pieces stand the test of time - in both design and quality - to be passed down through generations as heirloom pieces.

We love the words “style with empathy” - what does that mean to you?

We aim to be a business driven through integrity, championing quality and design while treading lightly on the planet. It comes back to that affinity with nature - an appreciation of the world and its wonders - and a desire to protect it. Working with materials that come from the earth - precious metals, freshwater pearls - there is a real sense of responsibility to tread lightly on the planet. I feel fortunate to be in the jewellery industry, where we can access recycled gold and silver and ensure ethical mining and full traceability of our gemstones and diamonds.

We see a lot of ocean influences in your pieces, what made you choose shells and pearls as a material?

I have always been fortunate enough to live near the ocean, so I look to the beach daily to find a sense of balance and grounding. Naturally, this translates into design inspiration. Pearls and shells found throughout our collections speak of my connection to the ocean, and the particular qualities of shells - such as mother of pearl - that support intuition and impart a sense of protection and soothing.

The brand features unique items like Pearl Bralettes and Caps - what made you branch out from jewelry?

I felt drawn to create pieces that sit alongside the jewellery, but expand upon the possibilities in bodily adornment. We created these pieces in collaboration with designer Glen Prentice, who joined our team upon his return from New York. Glen's womenswear background, and exquisite craftsmanship lent themselves perfectly to this exploration of one of our signature materials, the pearl. We began with the Juliet cap, and the collection evolved from there. It was incredibly gratifying seeing this synthesis of our two disciplines - jewellery and apparel - come to life.

Do you have a favourite piece of jewelry and what’s its story?

I get all of my JS pieces made in solid gold and never take them off, they feel really special, I know I’ll have them forever and pass them onto my daughter one day.

I also have chain that belonged to my grandmother, that I wear with a pendant I bought from a vintage store in Paris. Both carry so many memories, I love that jewellery can be sentimental in this way.

What’s next for Jasmin Sparrow?

The business has evolved alongside raising two small children, being there for my children and instrumenting a healthy work life balance has been integral to my work ethic. My youngest started school this year, I’m looking forward to having more time to spend on JS. We have big plans for the brand, with growth into the international market being at the forefront.
